You only get one set of teeth, so taking care of them is essential. At Dentistry of Alton Towers, we strive to help every patient keep their natural teeth for a lifetime. Sometimes, even if it's no fault of your own, you may need a dental crown.

We use dental crowns to cover and protect a damaged or decayed tooth; our custom crowns will look beautiful and allow you to bite down and chew normally. These commonly used restorations make it possible for you to keep your tooth intact and avoid extraction.

So, how do we restore your smile with dental crowns in Scarborough, ON?

When Is a Dental Crown Used?

A dental crown is a cap that completely covers your natural tooth, protecting it from further decay or damage.

A dental crown may be needed if you have:

  • Extensive decay that a filling can’t fix
  • A weakened tooth after root canal therapy
  • A chipped, cracked, or broken tooth
  • A worn tooth from TMJ or bruxism
  • A discoloured or misshapen tooth
  • A dental bridge that needs support

The Dental Crown Procedure: What to Expect

The dental crown procedure requires two visits to our dental office.

Here are the steps of the process:

  1. During the first visit, we’ll remove any tooth decay or damaged tooth structure and take impressions to send to the dental lab.
  2. Then, we’ll make a temporary crown for you to wear until your restoration is back from the lab.
  3. About two weeks later, you’ll come back so we can cement your crown in place.
  4. Before you leave, we’ll check your bite and make sure your new crown looks beautiful and feels comfortable.

Before you know it, you’ll be smiling again!
