Dr. Tao was born in Nanjing, China, and moved to Canada with his family at the age of seven. He earned an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto and began his career as a nuclear engineer at Ontario Power Generation (OPG).
Driven by a passion for healthcare and helping others, Dr. Tao later pursued his true calling in dentistry, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from University College Cork in Ireland.
Dedicated to continuous professional growth, Dr. Tao has undertaken advanced dental studies in the United Kingdom, Egypt, and the Czech Republic, broadening his clinical expertise and global perspective on patient care.
Care Philosophy
Dr. Tao believes in a comprehensive and patient-centered approach, always striving to act in each patient’s best interest. His care philosophy emphasizes prevention, education, and long-term oral health.
He is also deeply committed to health equity and has participated in international outreach initiatives — including a program in Nepal, where he provided dental care to underserved rural communities.
Beyond Dentistry
Outside the clinic, Dr. Tao enjoys exploring culinary experiences both in Toronto and around the world, reflecting his appreciation for culture, creativity, and connection.
As a new patient to this dental surgery, my initial experience was nothing short of a wonderful experience. The staff there were friendly and acted professionally right from the reception to the dentist. The dentist (Dr. Li Yang) explained the results of the X-ray with me and suggested the options available in my circumstances in a highly professional manner. Although my initial visit was for my annual check-up and teeth cleaning, I was very satisfied with their thorough services. With the confidence established during my first visit, I will definitely try their other services in the future and that will be subject to another review.
